It depends on the mood I am in. After a bad break up, Nick Hornby is good, I love Tolkien and C.S Lewis when I want to capture that imaginative spirit. John Eldredge is good for reflecting, John Grisham is good for a while, but all his books are about a lawyer in some shape form or fashion.

I've been reading a lot of Jon Krakaur books lately; the guy is spellbinding. Right now I'm in the middle of The Tipping Point, by Malcolm Gladwell, and enjoying it a great deal.

One of the most interesting books I've ever read, and this was about ten years ago, was by a woman named Bia Lowe. Her writing was almost incoherent, but in a really beautiful way ... it was a collection of short "stories" that were really more about creative language than any plot or characters. The woman wrote the way Vivaldi wrote violin music.

Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Friedrich Neitzsche. Admittedly, nothing in English to date. XD

Way too many to name.

Jack Kerouac
J.D. Salinger
Henry Miller
William Faulkner
James Joyce
Virginia Wolf
Ernest Hemingway
F. Scott Fitzgerald
William Shakespeare
Fyoder Dostyevski

I could go on forever I think and I know I'm missing plenty. Gives you an idea of what I read at least.

I like the authors Bryan mentioned though if I read it it was an English translation.

I also read a lot of non-fiction. I just finished re-reading the Tipping Point after Forrest reminded me about it. I like Seth Godin's books on marketing.

Later I'll look through my book shelves and realize all the authors I didn't happen to think of right now.

I like Ernest Hemingway and Stefan Zweig most. Kundera and Verber are not bad as well. And among Russian authors I like Chekhov and Dostoevsky. Actually, I prefer to read classical literature than the modern one, maybe because it gives me the chance to sink into the atmosphere of those times and have a rest so to say (sometimes I feel really tired of the contemporary life and its tempo ). and reading classical literature helps me relax.

Sidney Sheldon was one of my favorite authors, I think I read just about all of his books, Francesca_Luise. Truly a remarkable story teller!

Tom Clancy
Dean R. Koontz
Jon Land
John Saul
Judith Michael
Robert B. Parker
Andrew M. Greeley

These are just a few off my list of authors, I also read nonfiction as well...

I really love:

J.k Rowling - Harry potters are offically the best series EVER!
Dan Brown read digital fortress and angles and demon and loved them!

also the curious inncident of the dog in the night time by mark haddon was a fantasic and VERY interesting read and really gave me a insight into the life of people like the character.

Also Eric Idle and the monty python group in general i absolutly LOVE they are great and really funny
got their autobiography which is HUGE book.

i also liek
Robert Muchamore's series of books all fantastic reads (and i have had strange convos with him via email which i like about authors)

Also for non-fiction i recently read Dave Gormans GoogleWhack Adventure and throughly enjoyed it! very interesting!

Also when i was younger i belive (cant remember how the hell you spell his name) roul dole (completely wrong i know) the author of matilda the witches, eseo trot and Danny the champion of the world and many other all of which i think i have and have read which were and are top notch books.

Dan

I like Dan Brown too. I read the Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. How's Digital Fortress compared to Angels & Demons?

i honeslty cant remember all of Angles and Demons (and i have never managed to get into the da vinci code book - im a fussy reader)

but from what i remember of Digital fortress i remember not being able to put it down and for a geek like me i throughly loved all the Tech in it from what i remember its like about the NSA's super comupter which filters communications. .. which of course is top secret and no one knows about... so naturally all nerds know about it

anyway the two of his i read i loved.

its just da vinci code (love the film ) but its just not one of those books i been able to get into.
