Would you say the Internet is a basic utility now, say as much as phones and cable TV's were in every house hold back in the 90's?

It seems like the Internet in today's home is almost a given. What do you think? Is it slowly becoming a common utility, or is it already?

I think internet is only a horizon of what we can see. As for your answer, in my country. there are around 90% of people who don't have privilege of the internet.

I think it has been a utility already. Most of people i know use internet on PC or their cell phone everyday, and we can't deny internet has changed our way of life for long long time. When i was a child, the first thing my father do when he got up was read newspaper, nowadays, the first thing i do after i woke up is reading news on my cell phone or PC.

I think it's not a utility but in the next couple years, internet people will outnumber landlines users.

Internet has provided telecommuniting opportunities, staying in contact with family and friends throughout the world, sharing, etc...The drawback is that we have less physically socialization with others.

the Internet has already been a basic utility eversince it was introduced. It provides people with information that is just a click away.
