Hi Guys.

Had a meeting at work today.

Long story...
I need to lower my expectations of other staff.

For example,
Lets say someone in another team doesn't do what they were meant to do and leads to more work for you.
Lets say this happens often and from different staff.
Lets say your not allowed to complain about it anymore.

How do you tell yourself that its not your issue, let them get their job wrong, let them **** things up.. they will eventually become undone..

How do you nicely tell your boss things take longer because of the incompetence of other members of staff?

Any thoughts?

A bit touchy........
Depends on how the "bad" worker is viewed by the boss....

Worked with a fellow instructor who complained that I wasted time...
We made a list of the jobs by responsibility....
He soon discovered that I was faster than him...by a mile...
He asked for my help to do his work, corrected his statements with the boss and apologized....

Let the "bad guy" sink himself....
My 2cents...

The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark. - Michelangelo

You are kind of in the middle Lynxus, and if you don't make a full disclosure to the boss why things are taking longer and the boss finds out you knew all along, now you could end up being the bad guy. With the company/business it would be costing them time and money, someone will take the fall, hopefully not fired.

Are there other department heads who your boss will have to speak to or just your boss who oversees all the departments? I would ask to speak to the boss privately and explain the situation, that to me isn't complaining when you have to go over someone else's work, just factual and maybe explain and show your boss exactly what the situation is.

I can relate my self. I already experienced such situation especially in office. First let us accept that not all of our staff are the same like you. In mind, actions and output. There are people what you called that Late bloomer. We need to be patient and keep on motivating them.

You should learn from your mistakes and try to talk to others, if they have a problem, you can help them and share their load of work too. A couple of times you can do this, but if the person is a slacker, why don't you grit your teeth and go ahead with your work..

This is definitely an odd line that you've got stuck behind. I personally don't believe any company should tell their workers that. I do understand, there are certain go-getters that do way more work than most employees, I myself am one of them. I've also been in similar situations as you on numerous amount of occasions. Unfortunately, in this case, I would still speak my mind. It's understandable that you'll do more work because you care about your job, but that doesn't give the right to have others just lay there work on you as well.
