I thought I had removed the 180 search adware from my computer. But I ran my virus scan today when my computer started to slow down.

I haven't been able to remove the 180 search items completely.

Here's an article I found on the subject http://www.sawtoothdistortion.com/Ar...180Search.html

It gives instructions for a manual uninstall.

Is there a software that I can use to remove the 180 adware from my computer.

I use two security software. Norton Anti virus and AdAware SE. They can find parts of it but not the whole thing.

Is there another catch all software I should be using?

My wife had this problem on her computer too - add/remove programs does NOT work, adaware does work BUT you then have to find where 180 solution came from - she had it bundled with a "free" game she downloaded. Every time she loaded that up again 180 search returned

It took several hours but eventually I worked out which file was causing the problem. I then deleted that, did a CTRL-ALT-DEL, ended the salm.exe process (though 180 search has many different variants) then ran adaware again and it worked.

Spybot Search&Destroy is worth a look - caught a variety of things that adaware missed the last (and since then only) time I had a spyware problem.
It's probably worth hanging onto both progs and running them frequently.

Thanks for the insight people. While we are on the subject of spyware/adware, What is an MRU List?

I'm asuming it's something my computer makes on its own, but then some kind of adware ads itself to the most recently used file or something like that and it is like 1200 process modules so it uses up all or my RAM.

How do I stop this from happening?
