Yeah, I am aware of how to play chess, and how basic notation works. Move a pawn from e2 up one, it's recorded as e2-e3.
But, my question is this: Sometimes when I'm playing online games against people with automatic notation, it sometimes records something as Nxe5. I know that x means captures and that e5 means the square e5, but what does the N mean?
Also, at first I thought that N stood for Knight, but then I realized that neither one of us (my opponent or I) moved our Knight/s.
