I really need to backup my files, something that I very, very rarely do. My cousin lost everything to a virus, and he hadn't backed up recently.

I'm going to backup, my question is..

Is there a program that I could use to password protect any backup cds that I might make?

Some of the information on the cds would be stuff that I just wouldn't like people getting access to.

Oh, and if you want to recommend a program to backup up with, then please do so. I'm probably just going to use Roxio Easy Cd Creator.

Thanks.

You could put the important info into a ZIP file. Winzip will allow you to password protect the files.

I am considering that for small documents. But I really don't like taking the time to do all the large files, such as videos and stuff. Of course, if I don't figure out anything else that I can do, then I'll do this.

Create an image of the CD and it will create a .nrg file. Now keep it in another CD after you rename it as .zip !!

Nobody will be able to open it. :-)

Now to open it, you need to copy it to your HDD and rename it back to .nrg and then use Nero Image Viewer or Burn it on a CD to view.

I have considered renaming file extensions so that people won't be able to open my files.

The problem with a giant image file, at least for me, is that Windows XP seems to hang for awhile while trying to recognize a cd image. I don't know if this is just me, but it's been my experience in the past.
