I have an idea for a website and would like to know your thoughts.

I want to set up a site a bit like AdBrite, but working a bit differently. Maybe a bit like fast click.

Basically, a webmaster would ad a banner to the system under a particualr category. He/She would purchase impressions for a low price. Lets say $10 for 100 clicks (for example). The pricing would be even across the board, so you dont have to spend alot to get your ad shown. There would be not outbidding on CPC.

Publishers would them get about 5 cents per click. They would select a category of ads to display.

Using categories rather than keywords would get some webmasters more exposure. For example, AdWords for finance can get to over $50 per click.

Would this work, or am I just wasting my time?

A site like that would depend a lot on how you market it.
I dont think it would be one of them sites that you set up and people rush to join, But if you promote it well and have a decent amount of money to spend on advertising it could work.

Personally i would do a free banner exchange where people get two visitors for every 3 clicks, and then you could sell the surplus clicks to clients.

mmm...I do run a banner exchange already. Im thinking of selling it to work on this new site.....

When you swap clicks rather than impressions, would it be a bit like hitx.net?
