any number times nine will give you a number that the two digits will always add up to 9 therefore when you subtract 5 you will always get 4!

8x9=72
7+2=9
9-5=4

7x9=63
6+3=9
9-2=4

and so on...

I have heard about this when I was a kid. no matter what number you pick, you will always end up with 9.
