Pretty cool for a new site to break the 1000 unique visitors per month mark. Took three month but traffic went up over 100% this month thanks to MSN search and some good keywords. The site has recieved 3,471 page views this month. Not bad for site that is only a few months old.
Does anyone else have a pretty new site that is gaining popularity?

So far this month I have 2500. But the site wasn't announced until last Tuesday (21st March 2006). I got 2000 in that time. www.anmartech.com

Could you share with the forum how you got so many unique visitors in such a short time? It seems rather unlikely for such a new site, but if you did and could share how I'm sure it would be valuable information for everyone here.

Sites that get that kind of traffic early are usually games sites, or any site that would work with viral marketing. anmartech looks to me as though it would be almost entirely rely on search engines for it's traffic,, And google only has the homepage listed.
I would be interested in knowing where that traffic came from.

I get about 4000 unique visitors a month and the site is less then a year old... About 45% of my traffic is via search engines and the rest is from links and direct/bookmarks...
It is all about SEO , ie relevant and constantly updated content, hierarchy of your file structure matching the content, proper titles, and so on....

I just started a new site, it's a directory for host providers. Hits are low but I hope to get them up soon. I think I'm going to try yahoo marketing for http://www.top-host-sites.com I haven't had luck with google adwords on past sites.

The key is to hang in there. Spread the word as much as you can without spamming and just continue to improve and build your site.

I guess I'm a little spoiled. Here I was feeling upset that our traffic wasn't higher.
I have a site that's only a few months old, we get around 3-4,000 unique hits a month right now, about 10-20,000 page views.
But that's still not enough. Need.....MORE.......TRAFFIC!
Maybe someone can say how long it takes to get to the few thousand unique hits a day mark.
But congratulations, may there be much more where that came from.
Joe.

I didn't think anyone would be interested in subject when I posted it.
Here's what I found out through developing my site and watching my stats closely. The more articles I write on various subjects the more keywords I can get visitors for. I'm getting between 70 and 80 visitors per day now and my traffic might take a big jump if I start hitting some of same keywords on Google that I get on MSN. MSN sends alot of visitors to my site. Google, Yahoo, and Dogpile take the backseat for now. I also get visitors from Neowin forums and Myspace. Not to mention some visitors from Webmaster-Talk.

I've found exactly the same thing. Every time I add a new article to my blog I get found in more searches. My traffic is coming predominantly from Google with MSN and Yahoo far behind. Not every article has been a winner. I'm in a very competitive industry, but sometimes I hit on a good subject and that page starts getting found a lot.
And yep traffic come to me from this and other forums. While I've submitted to a lot of directories I think only one or two sends any traffic directly my way. I'm not on myspace at all.

People say "content is king". I hear it alot. But I never really paid it much thought until I started getting visitors out of the blue from MSN.
Google is giving me a hard time with rankings. Google is is tougher to get visitors from.

True Google is tougher. How old is your domain? There's usually a time factor with Google where they want your url and the backlinks to age some before either gets much weight.
It's actually not too hard to get ranked for less than competitive keywords. Write a focused page about something and make sure you have a good title and probably a good <h1> heading. If the page is focused on something then it will generally mention keywords relating to that something throughout.
Backlinks are going to be the most important thing for competitive keywords though you still should have a good page. If the page does start showing up in search engines it needs to be about something if you want anyone to do something other than click on the browser back button.
I think 'content is king' irregardless of how it affects search engine rankining. Your page is ultimately what is or isn't going to convert your customers to either check out more pages on your site, sign up for a newsletter, buy something etc. All the links in the world won't do that.

And how much money have u invested in ads? Just curious I'm guessing you would have to either invest a ton of money or have a small to large staff (any staff really) working on such a project.
Then again it really depends on the type of site I guess. I mean my gaming topsite gets 10k+ a month in unique visitors and I have done almost nothing in the way of spreading the word....

The domain is one year old and the domain has been pointed to hosting account and is has been indexed. I have got PR with the last two updates so that is good. The site is 3 1/2 months old.
The site has 1,200-1,300 inbound links. 31 show up on Google so It's a good start.
MSN sends me visitors for about 130 keywords and 110 keyphrases. Google I think sends me traffic for one or two at best.
Mostly I don't think I have done the work nessecary to get traffic from Google. I have had rankings for keywords on Google but it took like a year. Then all of my rankings dropped and didn't go back up. It was a bit discouraging. I'll get those good keywords eventually.

Was the drop in Google recent? About the same time they just did their recent update? Was there a time when you were gettng traffic from Google?
I'm asking because I'm wondering where you got your links from. Most recent updates at Google have been to discount a lot of what they consider to be unnatral linking so if the links came from link exchanges or free for all link pages or something that Google considers spammy they may have disocunted a lot of your backlinks.
It's not uncommon after an update for sites to drop in Google depending on the algorithm change at Google and how people have acquired backlinks.
