Is there anyone who knows how to make a program that automatically runs when the computer starts, and what it does is prevent the computer from shutting down if there is a CD in the drive. I want it to run as follows: If you click the shutdown icon (Windows XP Home), it will give you a dialog box saying to put away the CD. It will then abort the shutdown sequence.

Situation: My brother is horrible at leaving CDs in the computer, and I try to break him of this habbit, but to no avail. I really want him to stop. I want to put said program on the computer to attempt to break him of this habbit.

If ANYONE could do this for me, I would be very grateful.

I think I would put a password on the computer, but you might not be able to do that.

What does shutting down the computer have to do with leaving a CD in the drive? I might not be thinking clear this morning.

He basically wants the PC to notify the user if a CD is in the drive when the user tries to shut down the machine.

Yes Omega, but then if the CD is there, it will not shut down. DMo224, I dont want to prevent his usage of the computer, just keep him from shutting down with a CD in the drive.

Next time you catch him, take a fork and poke im in the eye. I found that this can quickly prevent anyone from, well, doing anything you don't want them to!

Zork, I would do that, but I don't want to deal with the ensuing lawsuit.
