You are comparing Apples and Oranges there
MySpace is a "social networking" site. It does not exist to promote service or a product. It exist to promote itself and the concept and as such copycatting shows it has acheived that. Also the vast majority of site with myspace as part of the host name are actually providing a means for MySpace users to enhance their listing, and as such are actually helping to promote MySpace.
A commercial product or service does not want anyone diluting their branded services in the same way.
Yes ICANN would, they take any complaints seriously, and often with unexpected results. A client of mine bought out a similar business to his own when the owner retired and pointed the hostname (.co.uk) to his own site (a page that explained the change). Another company with the same name as the one he bought, based elsewhere in the UK and who had registered the .com after the .co.uk claimed he was trying to "poach" their traffic.
They won the case!
