Hey, do any of you know of any good sites that will buy html templates from me? I have tried on a few of the bigger template sites, like templatemonster but haven't had any luck... Can anybody point me in the right direction?

There are bound to be some sites but I have never found one. Why don't you create your own site and sell them directly?

That's too much hastle, plus I would need to do something a bit special to compete with the already well established sites out there.

Well there's a number of sites in which you can sell templates on, including here. I'll provide you with links to the biggest and most popular ones, as those will be the ones that you'll have the best luck selling the templates.

If you create your own templates, your best bet is to contact web design companies instead of places that sell templates since most of them are are designed in house.

I have never used a template but have had a look around and it seems that a number of people offer free templates on the big sites with a link through to their own site - that would make sense as the site you place a few free templates on link through to yours, like "created by http://www.yoursite.com" (so your not having to try and get your site ranked etc, they do that for you by including your free templates) and they benefit from more free templates to offer.

I may be wrong but thats the impression I got from a few sites anyway.

Spud, I've sold a bunch on SitePoint, right now their template marketplace has completely dried up. Keep an eye on it in the future, it might come back. Im looking forward to finding other marketplaces. Will share if i find others than the ones here.

bakerc, that's a really good idea. Ive been looking into this and haven't started for the same reasons Spud wont do it. The market is way too competitive. Give away a handful of REALLY good ones and get the PR. Eventually you might show up somewhere on the map. That would be the way to do it if you ever wish to compete with the template giants and their affiliates.

I bet no one ever thought of this idea...Open up a store on the corner...You know, right down your street? And Put Template Monster template screen shots on the front window. For sure you will sell

Have fun, and oh btw there are not many people doing it like this, so your competition is quite low which means you will reap the profits
