Been watching it since the 31st, it makes every morning start off well Very impressed There are now 56 of 70 new features revealed, I wonder what is to come (There was more then 70, my informant was wrong!)

wow looks like they are putting in some nice features.
Their RSS bot looks awesome... Is this a brand new idea? I can't recall ever seeing something like that before.

Ooooh, shiny!
Seems generally administrative/moderative (if that's a word), but some great features/enhancements on there.

I've seen a similar thing implemented on a PHPBB2 forum, but not on Vb. If used in moderation, could be a very nice addition to the board.

I wish SMF would have an RSS bot.
I like how you can give it keywords and it will only makes posts if the RSS article contains one or more of them words, sounds like a good way of fueling discussion.

None of them are really new ideas (a lot of them were already available from vBorg). I know the RSS bot has been in IPB for a while, but it was also a vB mod before that.
Most of the major features have a new twist on them, though. For example, the 'Infractions' system (or 'Warning system' as many call it) isn't a new idea, but the way they handle it is new. Most warning systems are just a way to keep track of warnings and give points, and usually when the points reach a certain threshold, the user is banned. This infraction system is more flexible because it uses permissions instead.

Does VBulletin have integration features yet? SMF has a system which allows you to pull bits of forum data into your home page. And phpbb_fetch_all does the same for phpBB. I use it to put a forum onto a site, and then on the home page I might list "Top 10 posters" or "5 most recent posts." I also use it for a universal login system, so all the non-forum pages on my site will also know if the person is logged in or not.
I'd like to switch to VBulletin, but it would need to have site integration features that outmatched SMF & phpBB. So far, I've not seen it.

Depends on what you need. There aren't any actual one step "get X and put it into variable Y so I can show it on page Z" functions (I'm not sure if thats what you're used to from phpBB). But there are fetch_* functions and such that make grabbing information from the database easy, and not to mention a huge mod database at vBorg where prebuilt pages are available. (You just gave me an idea for a mod There should be a toolbox that does things in one easy step.)
A lot of the genius behind vB is extending it though. They have data managers which make it extremely easy to edit/save/create new content (anything from users, private messages, threads etc) and the plugin system means you can add all of this functionality without file edits.
I'll agree though that Jelsoft is behind in the "whole package" area. Right now you have to use third party products if you wanted an entire site. IPS, for example, has a CMS coming and already has other products that plug right in.

SMF use an ssi.php file that cann be included on any page then forum stats can be echoed with pre written functions
http://www.simplemachines.org/commun...i_examples.php
It shouldn't be to hard to make something like that for any forum if you know some php and sql.

It makes me so sad when I hear about all these fantastic features but I just can't afford it  Maybe if they didn't charge such a rip off price I'd be willing to invest more in a vBulletin board. Ahhh, {SIGHS}
