Online marketplace eBay Inc. is set to unveil a keyword advertising system for eBay sellers to promote auctions on other Web sites, borrowing from the strategies of Google and Yahoo.
Yahoo! News

This seems like a pretty good idea. From what i read they wont be doing contextual adverts in the ame sense as Google and Yahoo! where advertisors advertise thier site. The adverts will only be for eBay auctions, and will be displayed on related sites.
So if you have an eBay auction selling a laptop, your advert for the auction will be displayed on pages about laptops.

What do you think?

That sounds like a great idea. I have had good luck with google adsense and I have recently started using yahoo. But a list of auctions in action would really improve click thru.

I give it a thumbs up.

Does Ebay have any affiliate programs now?

I definately give it a thumbs up. As a seller on ebay I have seen the final value of items go down the drain. It is definately a buyers market. This campaign may help bring it back up a little on unique items.

Hope it doesn't fall under the Adsense TOC's as 'competitors adverts'. That'd severely cut down the potential if you couldn't use it on sites with Adsense ads running.

I think with the current Adsense terms you wouldn't be allowed to run both on the same page. If i remember the google wording it prohibits other "contextual adverts" on the same page as adsense, And by the sounds of it, The eBay adverts will be contextual..
