I have a site im building, that im pretty proud of and been putting alot of work into lately. I run another website, so I have a place to host it for now, I wanted to get it hosted so I can show off what ive done so far to a few friends, and to post some places like the review section here.

I was just wondering if theres anything I can do to avoid having my site stolen or copied, or if thats something I should even be worried about? The sites not all that great, afterall I made it with frontpage, but I still put alot of work into it and wouldnt want it to go to waste. It probably wouldnt be up long, just a day or so to show some friends and get opinions =)

Plus im also curious of what I would need to do for when I do get the site all finished and hosted and all to avoid it being stolen then

Thanks for any help

What exactly are you worried about being stolen? Is it content, images, layout ideas, or html?

In the case of server-side scripting, you would be safe there as there is no immediate access to server files unless someone had ftp access, server access or there were holes in the web server configuration.

As far as everything else, there is no sure way to protect your content because content is downloaded to the user in order to display. You can append copyright notices on your pages that reference you as the content owner, in which you should be able to take leagle action on copyright piracy if you have the $$ to afford a good lawer.

A strong hosting provider can avoid your script being stolen by using expensive firewall, so it is very important too.
