I think this paperclip thing started out as a really good idea, but when newpapers TV shows and radio stations started trying to get publicity from it and started offering him crazy stuff for trades, Like a snow-mobile for a keg of beer, the trades become too unrealistic and the whole thing became a publicity farce.
And the final trade, a house for a part in a movie, What kind of idiot would trade a house for that?
That is just freakin' impressive. And it shows just how stupid we are as Canadians. I knew a guy who used to do something similar with wholesale goods but he'd take a bundle of assorted track pants (approx. 100 to the bundle) and trade the bundle effectively for something like a minivan, but never to this extreme. He usually stopped at about 100 x the value of the original item and started again.

I agree here. If the media did not get hold of this then he surely would never have managed to get a house from it never mind been setup with movie roles and dinner with famous rock stars.
All for a paper clip.
That siad media intervension has surely made this chap happy and it proves that even the most bizzare ideas can work for you using the Internet as your medium.
Do you think that he still could have done that with out the power of the media behind him? I think that was a cool ideal but I don't think he would have got that far without all the attention. Just goes to show the power of the internet.

well i think it was his plan to to get the media looking in to his site, as we all love free traffic and promtion because its the best there is, so i think he is a very smart guy to come up with some thing mad that know one has don befor and plued it off, well i got to say that this has got me thinking all sorts
i'm not really that impressed with this guy. if i had a nickel for every bum that tried to sell me a broken shoelace for a dollar......well....i could buy a house!
