I have searched and I do not know what it called.

I want to allow people to purchase my videos for download. They click on a buy button, they input there name and email address and pay. They then get an email that gives them a username and password to allow them to get into the download area of my site.

what program does this, how is this done, what it called?

I did not know where to post this in the forum?

I think you can set things up exactly as you want trhough PayPal. I've never set something like this up through them, but I once made a purchase from a site that used PayPal and the process was exactly what you describe. Pay, get an email to a download page, and download.

There are certainly other ways to set this up, but PayPal is probably the easiest, especially if you don't already have a merchant account.

I just did a custom script like this for my own site (phplinkdictory.com) but I'm sure if you look some place like hotscripts.com they will have something.

I do use paypal for purchasing the DVD but i have never seen anything on paypal where they give you scripts and stuff other then for buttons. I'll check out hotscripts.... thanks I had never heard of them.

You might register for their playhouse area in the developement section. I have been there and used it while testing a script but I don't recall exactly how all of it works.
