hey every one,

Iv been working on a web site for a while now. I am about half way done when I decided that maybe the idea wasn't the best. Ever since then I have not been able to get a GREAT idea. Iv had a couple of good ideas, however, after thinking them threw, I decided they wouldn't be very successful.

So, my question to every one. What is your GREAT Idea? or how do you get a successful idea? I could use all the help in the world. Maybe even give me a story on how you went threw the same thing as me, and your website makes thousands now..hehe....

ummm i aint telling you my idea, now that would be telling

- this is what i find..

you can't just come up with an idea... i find it impossible... what you have to do is test the water.. try a little of this, try a little of that,, see whats what.. see how things work.. get a taste for the market.. it's a costly way of doing things.. like i have paid freelancers to do a lot of work for me and half way through a project (that i have paid for) i think forget it and go and chase another bigger fish...

there are plenty more fish in the sea...

- and once you get the experience of what works and what doesn't you kinda become a professional in your area... and that great idea soon comes knocking.. so open the door

Sleeping. Honest to God, I've had some brilliant ideas for clients when sleeping.

Other sites in the same genre of the one I'm looking to build (roughly).

Those are my two biggest sources.

The other side of that coin is like the duck hunting theory: If you don't pick out one duck when you go to shoot, you miss them all. So some will definitely tell you to go after one idea first.

Some people have started with ideas that made a little money, but never went big. However, the little money helped them to finance bigger ideas. But I can agree with rhysgregory, if you find it's going to be hopeless, it could be best to forget it and move on.

If being afraid that you'll lose interest is a big fear, then start a site about something that you love (something that you'll never lose interest in).

Dave
