Do any of you webmasters happen to know the legal definition of a page as in webpage? I need to know for a law class and I cant find it anywhere. Has this ever been defined anywhere? What constitutes a webpage? Is it the human action when clicking on a URL or is it the end result of that action (what the user sees)? Anyone?

Dartmouth College defines it as:
A webpage is an HTML file that has a specific URL and is accessible via the www. Sometimes referred to as a page, a document, or a home page.

Wikipedia says:
A Web page or webpage is a "page" of the World Wide Web, usually in HTML/XHTML format (the file extensions are typically htm or html) and with hypertext links to enable navigation from one page or section to another. Web pages often use associated graphics files to provide illustration, and these too can be clickable links. ...

it the object the people see - text or picture or just the layout and color scheme, or all those combined constitute a page.

"webpage" can also refer to location in certain context, in which case it becomes an internet address, a pointer.

i don't know any uses of the term to describe the action of the user :S

hope it's close to the answer you need.
