Hello --

I bet a lot of you have taken a look at eLance, Scriptlance and other freelance marketplaces online with an eye to picking up some good projects (there's a directory of several such marketplaces HERE).

But, many of our global competitors in countries like Russia and India can afford to bid far less than a good rate for webmasters in the US.

So... does that mean that US WebMasters can NOT compete in the online FreeLance marketplaces? Take the poll, please, and post your thoughts here.

My own thoughts? If you are efficient, just starting out, or lucky to land a big project, you can make some money on the boards (at link above). But in the global marketplace, US prices are high compared to many regions of the world, and many smaller jobs will go to overseas competitors.

Regards -
Scott

Hello All --

Thanks for stopping by. Just had an interesting discussion on a Yahoo Group for web designers. The consensus there was that US WebMasters CANNOT compete with international webmasters on the freelance boards.

Is that really true?

Yours -
Scott

Mine is "Sometimes -- But you have to land the right project". I think right project is very important and US webmasters have advantage in language.

think of economics ... while 100$ means almost nothing in some parts of the world, it's a months salary in others ... thinking in those terms ... i don't think they could compete with a fair price/quality

just my 2 cents.
