In the past 3 days someone has spamed my guest book about 50 times! I keep taking them off but 10 mins later someone starts putting them back on. I've taken them off 7 times now and they get put back on. It's spam about viagra links etc.
I checked my statistics and I can see that he/she is from manchester. I've got there IP address and there internet provider name. It's starting to get really annoying!

Is there any way to stop it? Is this happening automatic or is some sad case spending there time putting these on for me to keep taking them off.

thanks for any help

If the guestbook software you use has an IP Ban function, then be sure to add his/her IP address to the ban list. If it does not, then you may want to consider banning his/her IP via your hosting control panel. Doing so will eliminate the issue for good (at least for that IP address).

I made the guest book myself using php and mysql. I didn't think such a thing could be done anyway. I'll check with my server provider and the server userguide to see if I can ban the ip address. Well thinking about, the ip address will change everytime they go on the internet unless they have a static ip address. i'll check anyway.

thanks

Just stick in a section of code so that if the message contains any of the URLs they are using or any words like "viagra" the message doesn't get entered into the database.

See, this is why my site doesn't have a guestbook. It seemed like a great idea until I realized it would be a prime target for spam and I don't have the time to manually remove entries or the skill to screen them out. Yet.
