Before you "pro's" come down on me too hard, please understand that I am new at this and am self-taught.

I started my own site http://www.landscaping4fun.com simply because I wanted to learn how to build a website. I've been asked to create a website for a small local nursery/landscaper and have just begun the process.

Would you guys please take a look at the preliminary work that I've done, with the understanding that this isn't anywhere near a finished product. (The about us page is ugly but client wanted it that way - and I'm changing the layout; top image is too big!).

Could you also give me some tips regarding what I should charge for 5 completed pages? (I'm consensing 2 into one).

"Whatever you and the client think is reasonable."

This is your first client, so be prepared to shoot yourself in the foot a bit in order to get your foot in the door. By the same token, don't screw yourself over, either.

Take a couple hundred, say "thank you, and do you know anyone else that might need a site?" and run with the ball from there.

But in the process, if you want to get better, you should make it a goal to learn at least one thing from every site that you do (or improve on something you were doing before.) After a while, you'll notice yourself improving 10fold.

It would help if the site wasn't returning a 403 when you try to load it.
