I use Firefox 99% of the time and IE 6 the other percent. I'm thinking of downloading Opera 9.

What do you think?

Does anyone use Opera 9? It sounds like a fine browser. I may use all 3 or just dump IE and use FF and Opera.

Thanks!

I use Firefox for all my surfing and developing. I think Opera would be a good choice as well. I actually think IE7 is going to prove to be a pretty decent browser as well.

if you develop sites at all you should really check things in all of them and Safari and any other browser you can think of and different versions of all of the above. The more you see how things display in different browsers the better you'll be able to make sure your sites display as you want.

I use FF about 90% of the time. I recently downloaded IE7, and both browsers are looking more and more alike everyday. IE7 is a step in the right direction for Microsoft though.

I had a problem using IE7 when I installed it. It kept crashing on me. But I think the issue was more because I was trying to hack things to be able to run IE6 and older versions at the same time off another drive on my laptop.

I thought IE7 looked pretty good for the few minutes I was able to use it. Yes, more like FF and Opera, but also some new things that looked good. A few things I wasn't crazy about, but it might have been that I didn't have time to really use the browser enough.

I decided to wait for the automatic update to run before giving it anohter go. It started yesterday and then never gave me the message to install. I imagine it'll happen soon enough.

I'm still going to use FF as my primary browser, but I may end up using IE more than I have been for the last few years.

I use FireFox about 95% of the time (it's my primary/default browser). I use Opera and IE the other times.

You know other than testing I hardly ever use Opera. The sad thing is it's probably the best of all of them. It always seems to be the fastest and I have a hunch it's the most stable. I also think most of the ideas and features we're learning to love in Firefox and now IE really made their debut in Opera. It probably deserves a much larger market share than it gets.

That makes me wonder why Opera has never been bigger or got more of the market share.

What do you think is the reason?

You know Dave I don't know. IE is going to be the default browser for most people and so most will continue to use IE. It's just going to be harder for any other browser to gain market share.

I think Firefox has done a great job marketing themselves and with much of the development community on board it helps get other developers to use the browser. I think Opera while still having developers rallying around it doesn't have quite the community Firefox does and hasn't done as good a job of marketing itself.

I'm not really sure though. A lot of the features we're all enjoying though in FF and now IE did start out life in Opera. I haven't used Opera enough to form solid opinions about it, but it's never crashed on and it does seem to load the same pages faster. It could just be my limited use. For all I know if it was my primary browser it would crash.

FF - IE, its all work to me. But I do go with FF 99.9% of the time. I haven't really seen anything about IE 7 yet.

Have you tried using the IE Tab extension for firefox? I use it at work all the time because half of our corporate sites don't work outside IE but it takes care of the trick.

I'm also wondering if anyone has any input into site testing using this extension.

And as for the initial question, I use firefox all the time and only touch IE at work and when I'm testing sites out, both through the IE Tab extension.

I use both, at the moment I am probably 70% FF and 30% IE but that will probably flip around when I get IE7!
