I ask what are some essential softwares for web designing? I currently use Photoshop CS 2 for graphics and Dreamweaver for coding.

I was wondering if other applications such as Illustrator and flash are essential for a web designer's success. Are there any other softwares I'm missing out on?

A proper text editor. I don't count anything by Adobe/Macromedia because it's horse excrement.

Other than that, you should be fine. Flash isn't "essential" but it's a nice touch if used properly. Illustrator...I don't think I've ever used Illustrator for anything.

I think what ADAM is quite eloquently saying is that Dreamweaver has run it’s useful life.

I'd suggest you get much better quality in an instant from solutions like Blogging, Joomla or client side CMS that there’s no point using it anymore. A good text editor and you’ll have a prefect site finished before a horse can fart.
