This forum has over 30,000 members, yet I rarely see more then 10 members online. Has this site had it's day or something?

Most people don't have time to spend all day here. But a lot of threads are started and a lot of posts are made every day.
I don't think it makes sense to judge a forums activity level simply by looking at the number of members online at any one time.

No, but it's usually a good indication. The amount of responses to all the threads here is equally minimal. I know what a busy forum looks like, I've seen a few, and this doesn't look like a busy forum.

I'm not claiming it one of the busiest forums on the internet, But thinking it's "had it's day" based on the number of members online at any one time doesn't make sense.

These kinds of threads make me lose the will to live.
What exactly are you saying and what exactly was it that prompted you to ask if the forum had "had it's day" then?

So the forum has "had it's day" because you have been on busier forums?
Fantastic logic..

I only asked if it had had it's day, and now suddenly that means that I'm saying it's had it's day and there's no activity. Yeah, I can see how you can speak with such authority about logic!
But in any case I will say now, I think this forum has most definately had it's day, and with such [Flame SNIPPED] replies such as above, it's not hard to see why.
Bye!

there doesn't have to be a hundred responses if the first response solves the issue.
I believe this forum serves it's purpose it is here to aid webmasters this is not a social forum for just general chat. It's more of a question and answer forum. I will say though not one of the busiest forums it is the most helpful webmaster forum.. I'm a member of a few and this is the busiest of the ones I'm a member of and has the more knowledgeable members.

Amen blackhawkpowers. I personally am getting a little tired of people who just barely have signed up, putting down or spamming, this forum that I have called a home for several years.
Many of you forget, or don't realize, that you have some of the web's most talented and intelligent designers, programmers, marketers, etc. at your disposal. Rather than complain about petty crap, like whether this forum meets your initial expectations, why don't you concentrate on why you joined this forum in the first place. I'm willing to bet it was because of some really helpful posts you found through a SE by some of our long standing members (who, by the way, are getting older, have lives/children and, devote as much time to this project as possible).
Is WMT going to be around forever? Probably not. However, there are far more productive posts you can make than "This forum has over 30,000 members, yet I rarely see more then 10 members online. Has this site had it's day or something?"

I have to say... I come here alot, at least a few times a day (although I admit dont post as often as perhaps I should). I also goto a handful of other webmaster related forums...
I personally dont see the amount of community spirit here that I see on other forums. But I also dont see as many helpful members that I see on the other forums I go on... someone above posted that this is more of a Q&A forum - Im not even sure I agree with that to be honest.
Dont get me wrong I like this forum... I'd like to see more effort put in by the admins/mods to get a community feel going.

This is one of the better forums I have come across and I love popping in here and almost do daily, the wealth of information and help at my disposal is great and I am always reccomending it to others... and I enjoy having a go at the design contests, there is a little less of the community spirit as in other forums but each forum serves it purpose I suppose

Youre asking what it is... this just underlines that perhaps this place doesnt have it?
- Like I said, im not trying to get into a row over this. I like the site otherwise I wouldnt be here - I was merely replying to a post with my own opinion

I'm not asking what community spirit is, I'm asking anyone to define it so I can be sure we are all talking about the same thing.

I have been a visitor to this forum for years, and the reason i come back again and again is because if the lack of bull****.
I can open most posts here and they contain genuine information, and not some 14year old punk trying to spam his refcode.
Keep the forum the way it is - If you dont like it, dont let the door hit you in the </arse> on your way out
I HATE forums that is nothing but "bump" and "i hit that" or "see sig"
