What is the best application to used in web designing, Macromedia, Flash or Frontpage?

I can never use WYSIWYG editors, they never do what I want! My favorite app for coding is TextMate.

Hand coder myself. I use a freebie, HTML Kit.

Of the WYSIWYG programs I do think DreamWeaver is the best, but there's no replacing being able to code a site by hand. And once you get the hang of it it's usually faster than using the WYSIWYG

Dreamweaver is for coding html, php etc
Flash is for creating animations
Frontpage is a html editor (old and outdated so don't use it)

Dreamweaver and flash are two entirely different things. DW is a tool to write code and html, Flash is for animations. These are not the only tools, there are many excellent html/code editors available and it's really more about the one *you* like rather than other peoples favourites. There are also many applications that produce Flash animations, the expensive Adobe flash is not the only one.

FrontPage = crap.
Dr*amw*av*r = crap.
Flash = more crap.

Hand-coding, with an old editor called HomeSite (pre-Macromedia buyout) and Photoshop to create the images for the layout (NOT the code, since the ImageReady code sucks.)

Definitely stay away from Flash and MicroSTOOPID FrontPage -- find a real HTML editor that you're comfortable with, and by all means, learn hand-coding ... it will prove to be a valuable asset later.

Plenty of grey matter and a half decent editor. Oh and plenty of vision.
