I知 remodeling my living room and now I知 caught between a decision to purchase a new rug or install a new hardwood floor. I have really saved up for this project, so I知 not too restrained by cost, but I would like to see value for my money, though. Can anyone suggest a store that will not rip me off and just sell me their most expensive (but not really good) items? Thank you.

Hardwood will cost more than a really good rug. It will also last a lifetime. I would do hardwood. You can always use an area rug over the hardwood for color and style.

You are going to need to find a qualified installer/contractor in your area. The best value is found when using a real pro and letting them furnish the materials. Chance are the really good installers will not have a retail "store". They don't need it.

Avoid the guys with the largest yellow page ads. The established pros don't need that. Ask others or cruise construction areas to see who the builders are using.

This is too funny - I webmaster an Area Rugs site. Good rugs and runners look pretty good on hardwood floors as they can compliment different colors in different room settings.
