I was talking with a friend who went to see 300 and he was commenting on the parents that brought their kids in to the theater to see the movie with them. I remember the same thing when going to see movies like Blade II back when I was still willing to go to the movie theater....kids aged 3-8 watching a ultra-violent action/horror flick.

So, how many kids did you see parents drag in to see 300 with them?

edit: just for clarity's sake...let's call the definition of young kids as 10 and under.

I didn't see many kids. It's a pretty violent movie.

No way!!!!!

I got fooled last year. People told me "It's okay - Brokeback Mountain is just a cowboy movie." Yeah. I'm not getting fooled again. Especially by something as obvious as gladiators. Come on!

My sons and I went to see it on the Friday it came out and the theater was packed. My sons are adults (18+). Anyway, most of the crowd were in their teens. I think I saw approximately 10 to 15 kids that might have been in the 8 to 10 range (with their parents, of course).

I don't know why a parent would want to take a younger child to such a violent movie...maybe because it's based on history. I dunno'!

There was some drunk in there yelling obscenities at the beginning of the movie. Some guy stood up and said, "I've got children here!" The drunk was removed, but my question was about the parent with little kids. Hmm...

We all drew our swords after the movie and gave a rousing "oorah"!

That's kind of the impression I get, too. I'm so confused. Teenage boys - the main customers for this gladiator movie - are the most homophobic group on the planet. How does the movie 300 get a pass?

I just got back from it now, and I didn't see any kids. Then again, part of the reason may be that my buddies and I wanted to see the IMAX version, which cost an extra few bucks.

Personally, I found the movie kind of goofy. The whole suspension of belief thing killed it for me (although it's always nice to see gratuitous shots of boobies!)

Just killing. Not really much swearing (I don't recall any). Not really gory, except for a couple of the decapitations.

Violent may be defined differently by different people, but this movie is about 300 men that fought with swords and spears against a nation. So, it is a militarist film, which is probably consider violent by most. I would consider it violent, but not in the "Hills Have Eyes" way.

I agree with Adam. I really don't recall modern day swearing. Gory? Well, the entire movie was a "sepia" type movie to give it a sense of coarseness (like the Spartan way of life). So even though the blood was red, it wasn't made to be so graphic. And it did show quite a few swords and spears going through people.

I wouldn't take young children to it, and I would probably limit the age to 15+ depending upon the maturity level of the person.
