Hello All, I have this idea, obviously we know that page rank doesn't mean much, but I was wondering... If we all linked to this thread, and got the pr up as high as the main page ( Should Not Be That Hard ) everyones sig links who posts here would benefit!

Lets give it a try, I am going to link to it on several of my pr 4-7 websites!

If Google can spot duplicate content with billions of pages to search across, I'm pretty sure they can tell how on a forum, there's a particular div that repeats over and over again with the same bunch of links ... and give them a lot less "juice" to pass.

You have to remember, Google runs on ad revenue, so they need users. It's in their best interest to find the best pages, and recommend them when it's appropriate to. That's why people continue to use Google and someone else doesn't come up and blindside them. The number of links you have tells you less than how you got them. So, it's a neat experiment, and I get the funny feeling you're trying to "give something back" to the webmaster community ... but I don't think signature links make a lot of difference for search purposes.

Still, I have one - I think the way they help you is by letting people know you have a site. Then when you post something interesting, especially if you do it again and again, people will naturally be inclined to check you out. To demonstrate, I'll post a cool photo, and bet that within a few days this thread shows up in my referral logs.

I'm not biting on the charitable idea, Forrest. This guy's noted for self-promotion and shameless advertising and exploitation.

If he wants to give back, let him show himself giving back first with no regard for self-promotion. THEN he can do things like this.

I bet she doesn't get much traffic because of it, despite all the work. Maybe Shannon (?) realized that making a positive contribution tends to work out better than really shameless self-promotion and scheming? A rising tide floats all boats.

I don't think linking to a thread about linking to that thread does anything for anybody, but I'd give almost anyone the benefit of the doubt. Not always the wisest thing to do, but I'm predisposed to it somehow.

Adam, I am not trying to start anything, think about this for a minute. If we all linked to one thread the pr would climb... Then our sig links will be seen on a powerful thread! That was the only idea.

If that really wont work, but I think it will as the main site pr will carry over it would benifit all of us, I could be wrong with that. Please tell me if I am.

I agree with adam. theseokit has this habit of thinking what he can get from the forum before thinking what he can give to the community.

If i could, i'd lock this now.

Fitting a pattern, I think Adam and St0x are on to something here. I've noticed their pretty bright cookies, and tend to be right on this kind of thing. Everyone deserves a fair chance. But they have this saying in Tennessee, or it's in Texas, maybe it's in Tennessee, too, it goes, uh, fool me once, uh, um, let's see, uh, how's that go? Can't get fooled again.

Fitting a pattern is right, LN -- he's been given an extremely fair chance, but blows it in almost every post ... he has his own SEO Forum, where he blows his "expert" smoke up everyone's skirt.

Travelagent, please read my post on the other thread where you put words in my mouth. I never claimed to be a expert.

Dude, you don't seem to understand why there are those of us out there who are skeptics. So I'll tell you once, and only once.

We are skeptics because of your past behaviour, and threads just like this one that seem to do no good and only encourage silly behaviour. If you want us to believe you've changed and that you're a good boy, show it. I've seen exactly one post so far where you've done that, and at least 3 where you claim to be doing it. THEN, if and when you've reestablished yourself, you can do things like this.

Right now, you can't.

Adam, I can understand where you are coming from because of what I did in the past. I am very sorry for the shameless plugs that I did, and I wont be doing that again. Even so though, I was banned for self promotion not for being a bad boy as you say

I received some bad rep for self promotion, but I'm sure you can see that this thread is not self promotion. I don't even have a link to my sites in it ( The Actual Post, Not Sig's!)

Have a good one

That's what I'm telling Forrest! ( Hey, I got your name right this time. ) It's noble to give everyone a fair chance, and that's exactly what happened, as far as I can tell. But that's a chance, as in one of them. People can "see the light" but wait for evidence of it.

Now I'm extremely curious, though. SeoKit says the ban was from self promo, and not "being a bad boy." But the profile box says Shannon? Which one is it? I know, you don't have to give your real name, and all of that, but since I've read a lot of SeoKit postings, I'm curious to know more about the wo?man behind the mask.

I'm guessing it's a boy?
