Flash? Pdf?

I'd be more concerned about the text in the book than the web formatting. Somebody who knows html can mimic a good layout without seeing the code. I know that's not what you want to hear, but encrypting your markup is ultimately going to work against you by costing you time without accomplishing much of anything.

PS - Hi from a fellow Seattlite.

I don't use pdfs much, I kind of hate the Acrobat software. Hopefully someone else can jump in and tell you how to do that, or if its possible.

Do you have any IT/programming skills? You could package your ebook as a .net application, which would let you put any type of protection you want in. That sounds far fetched and like too much work, but Microsoft put out a shareware starter kit that does payment verification, and license copy protection. So using all that to make a viewer for custom encrypted data wouldn't take that much work, and give you the ultimate level of protection. I'm not really sure how people go about applying DRM to mostly text content?

I spent most of the day in West Seattle, walked a friend's dog along Alki, but I live in Queen Anne near Kerry Park.

Encrypt it with Javascript, but if some one who doesnt have javascript looks at your page they will just see a bunch of nothing.

Use Adobe Acrobat Professional and make your book in pdf format and follow the following:
1- Choose Document > Secure > Show security settings for this document.
2- Choose Password Security from the Security Method menu.

Now you have the options to add a password for opening your book, printing or modifying contents.
