What is your preception of the world? In your mind, what makes the world work? Life after death? Life Before death? Live in the now? Strategy for the future? Etc. Anything else of philosophical interest is welcome.

I think it is hard wired into the human brain. I acutally think there doesn't have to be a meaning of life, I'm not worried about the afterlife becuase I'm alive right now. No gaurantees that the sun will come up tomorrow but chances are the universer keep existing and I will wake up tomorow and go to work make money and continue on with my life strategy.

That is true most of the world does wonder that is why cults and fake religions are popular like scientology as one example. People want to believe in something as long as they can feel good about themselves in that religion. The road to heaven is not wide it is narrow with only one true way through Jesus Christ.

In reference you should read the book of John and pay attention to chapter 3

Wow! That is one deep, generalized set of questions that I couldn't answer in a huge series of books....but I'll give you a few short answers without definitions or indepthness. I think I know where some are heading, but without a huge explanation of my thoughts, they might seem worthless.
  1. What is your preception of the world? Very limited, as this is vague.
  2. In your mind, what makes the world work? The laws on nature.
  3. Life after death? Yes.
  4. Life Before death? No, and yes.
  5. Live in the now? Of course, I can't live in the future that's not here yet, and I can't live in the past that is gone, so I must live in the now. That does NOT mean that I haven't learned from the past and does NOT mean that I don't plan for the future.
  6. Strategy for the future? Yes, I even have a personal mission statement that is for my life only. If you've taken S. Covey's course on 7 Habits, then you might have one, too.
I like the philosophical interests and discussion. However, I must exhort everyone to remain calm and polite. There will be disagreement, as we've had it in the past, and some threads had to be closed because of that. We can discuss just about anything as long as we all agree to disagree agreeably!

Enjoy the discussion!

Dave

I concur. I'll try to not loose my cool.

I haven't read any S Covey, might be one to check out.

My life strategy is based on these principles.

Seek empowerment

Find the truest self (or the most honest self veiw of self you can live with and work from that)

Make money

Healthy body and mind and spirit.

Make changes in the the world that are good for the individual and for the world as a whole. Confucius said something to this effect, (If it cannot be attained by right means it should not be held) I think that is valid statement.
While the debate over what right means is could fill an encyclopedia set, the statement is still legitimate.

Then there are the tactics for life. Your strategy can be impecable but if you don't have good tactics you will never finish accomplish what you set out to do.

How about planning?

1. Concept
2. Strategy
3. Tactics

Always a plan B and C, D, E, etc.
