I went out hiking with some family today, and did a much gentler trail than I had planned on, and yet we discovered something amazingly beautiful on it. So I wanted to share my latest with the group:
This is about 50 miles from Seattle along I-90, which I grew up thinking of as "the Mass Pike" since it takes you into Boston.

Nice picture, I live in the Applachian mountains, and get a chance to take some pix from time to time. I can't hike anymore, but I keep a lot of local pix of the county I live in on my website. Landscapes, mountains, season changing shots. And , I do some wild life video's for my WS.

Thanks, everyone! Yes, I shot this, Sunday, it's my most recent. I have my own site dedicated mostly to landscape photography. Here's a not so close version:

I lived/worked in Bellingham, WA over 10 yrs ago - a fellow co-worker talked me into going for a "hike" in an area that looked just like that ... I only went in about 10 minutes worth and turned around and left even faster.
I can't stand that part of the country, because the landscape reminds me too much of the jungles in Viet-Nam ... I left a few months later -- took me 4 days to go from Bellingham all the way to Jupiter, FL where I stayed on the beach for 6 months and refused numerous assignments.

I'm sorry to hear that.
I absolutely love the PNW myself. I grew up there in the Federal Way and Tacoma areas. I really miss how green and lush the landscape is.
Forrest, any time you feel like dropping a new photo of the PNW feel free. (Do you happen to have any of the newly budding landscape around Mt. St. Hellens?)

Beautiful work, Forrest.
Out here where I live, we have tons of wildlife. There's lots and lots of birds, huge rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, ducks (you name it).
There's this family of ducks that make the crossing from one side of the street to the other about the same time every day. There's four little ducklings that follow behind their squawking parents until they get along side the stream next to my house and then they head for the clearing by the trees and take off (into flight).
The traffic on the street stops, and they wait until Mama and cargo have crossed the road safely, and then they move on.
We have this great big hedgehog that lives down in the stream next to the house. He's soooo cute too. Every night he comes out looking for food, and we usually leave some scraps out in a tin in the yard for him.
We leave bird seed for the wild birds and chipmunks, and veggies for the rabbits.
I'd love to take some snapshots of things like this -- but (nearly blind) I can't. Besides, even a few years ago when I could see a tad better than now, I still took rotten photos. I have no camera talents.
LOL!

I'm really sorry to hear that. On the other hand, the constant darkness this winter made me think about how nice Florida must be!

Don't get me wrong -- the pics are beautiful scenery; personally I've always preferred the ocean; white sandy beaches; and the hot desert ... guess it's because I was born-n-raised in Corpus Christi, TX -- "The sparkling city by the sea" where it's hot all the time with a nice ocean breeze daily.

I lived in Vegas for over 20 years. Lake Mead has it all backwards. There's sand and there's gravel ... but the problem is the sand is where you park your car at, and everything forward from there up to the water is gravel.
So, backwards beach has you laying on gravel and parking in sand.
Slogan -> This Lake was designed by an idiot.
Lake Mead is a man-made lake, so they could have put the sand next to the beach and the gravel in the parking lot, but they didn't.
Maybe the designer spent too much time out in the hot sun and therefore thought his ideas were *ground breaking*
I slay me!

You know, I've actually never been to Lake Mead? I've been through Las Vegas a few times, lived in Phoenix briefly, and spent a lot of time traveling around southern Utah. The desert is gorgeous.
On that note, this is Zion National Park in sepia - hope everyone enjoys:
