I have the Outlook that came with MS Office XP and is setup to read a POP3 account.

How do I make it keep the messages on the POP3 server and not delete the ones I have read?

Are you using Outlook to read your messages? You didn't say if you were reading via downloading them or reading them on the server.

If you're reading them using Outlook, you can keep your downloaded messages on your own machine. Yes, I know that takes up space. But, you're email provider will only allow you so much space to leave your emails on their server.

In Outlook, I think that you go to either Tools or Options and there are several selections about your email, like
  • Download and delete from server
  • Download and keep copy on server
  • etc.

Right track Dave, but a bit more steps. Depending on your version of outlook:

Tools, Options, Mail Setup, Email Accounts, View or Change Account, Next, Click on the correct account (I have 11 accounts in my outlook), Change, More Settings, Finally....click on the advanced tab, click the box "Leave a copy of the message on the server". You can choose to delete it after a certain number of days or just leave it on the server from there.

Thank you for the lightning fast replys.
I need Oulook to not delete the messages off the server once it's downloaded.

I'm asking because a friend is setting up a company email which uses a webmail pop3 account and needs to be able to access it from multiple places ( company, old workplace and home)
