A couple weekends ago I was perusing the local yard sales to find stuff to put on eBay (some people really don't know what their giving away). I came across a box with about 50 books in it. All of these books were printed in the 18th and 19th century, antique to say the least. I wanted to take them all with me but I was on my bike so that would have been extremely difficult not to mention dangerous. However, I did find one particular book that struck my eye because on the inside cover was the signature of a very famous person, who claimed it as their property. This book was about Don Quixote and was printed in 1803.
I went up to the lady to begin negotiations, figuring she must know what is contained in this book, to my surprise I had to say nothing, she quickly looked and said, 50 cents. I said OK, paid the lady and left immediately. I put this book on eBay and it just ended a few minutes ago. A professor from Texas A&M purchased it for...
$163.50
Needless to say, I went back a couple of days ago, just hoping she possibly hadn't gotten rid of the rest of those old books. I pulled up just as she was leaving her driveway, on the way to a bookseller to just give them to him, I convinced her to save her gas and just give them to me.
Hopefully, in the coming weeks, you will hear even more tales like this one. Is that amazing or what?
