I know many of us claim we hate the new operation system regardless if it is any good or not.

People got mad when Windows 3.11 was pushed aside for 95
Similar for 98 and when 98 got finally stable they had to discontinue support.

It's always the same old story.

But I just got a new windows Vista and I got to say...
What an annoying operating system.

Any speed or power I have in my computer is offset by my having to verify my commands 2 before it executes. And then it doesn't help the matter that it locks out entire folders to me and I have to spend more time giving myself permission.

So much is pre-installed by default now and a lot of it I can't use the old "un-install" function because the sytem no longer lists their programs. Like the games, I never use them and they just take up space.

I used to take an operating system and strip everything I didn't want and it was easy.

Oh well...
I'm going to have to move to linux.

I had to work on a clients PC and it was Vista. The guy that picked it out loved it but I have to say I didn't like it. I had to uninstall a bunch of garbage that was preloaded from HP. It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to uninstall the applications!

I have no plans to upgrade any of my XP PCs to Vista.

I'm waiting to get a look at Longhorn. I love Windows Server '03, even on a workstation. It's faster and more stable than XP, so I would hope the same applies to the server version of Vista.

I have heard nothing of bad things about Windows Vista my friend's windows vista was so bad he had to take it into the shop to get it fixed. A spyware would not stop opening itself and it had a "auto-run" feature more so then on Windows XP (it's a new feature in Vista I forget the name)

I have Windows Vista Home Premium, and I have had NO troubles with it.

If you're running as the administrator, the only security prompts you should have are when something is a potential security risk (which should still be few and far between because of the new security setup). If you're getting loads of them, well you've done something stupid.

Vista does list the programs that are installed, and you can uninstall them just like XP.

If you buy a PC (preferrably not HP) with Windows Vista Home Premium, then everything should work fine. Mine has, and I have had no glitches what-so-ever so far.
