Let's try something new.
Let's spread the love.
How does this work? Well this thread is all about talkupation and getting position talkupation and in-turn building a good reputation here at Webmaster-Talk!
This thread is all about passing (hopefully positive) talkupation onto one another, though there is a catch.
Each webmaster must say or provide something that deserves positive talkupation. This can be a neat fact, an SEO tip, advertising/marketing advice, or generally something that some people or most people might not know. Even links to funny videos or cool things are allowed, but rest assured that if you post something stupid, demeaning, etc...you might just get a negative! Oh and sometimes it might be necessary to provide a reference if you say something that can be questionable, such as a fact, etc.
Ok, here I go!
In the average lifetime a person will breath in about 44 pounds of dust. Ref.

You can increase PageRank by putting out back links on higher page rank pages.
Unique content can help any website.
Backlinks are ways for people to get back to your site.
Using your keyword in your domain, or as your domain, can help search engine rankings.
Higher costing keywords, are indeed higher paying keywords.

Haha, I knew you'd find your way to this thread just for some talkupation.
+ talkupation added.
When advertising on MySpace, be sure to state the URL as often as you can. MySpace has recently stopped allowing links to external sites. reference

We've talked about threads like this (the Admins and Forum Leaders).
When someone expressly does something to get Talkupation or they ask for Talkupation, then it undermines, and it lessens the value of the Talkupation. So when everyone on the forum has lots of green dots, then they become meaningless since you won't be able to determine who really helps and who has just begged for Talkupation.
The proper use of Talkupation, even as mentioned in the first post, is when a member says something that deserves Talkupation! But I'll add another part to that: Positive Talkupation should be given to those people whose replies deserve Talkupation in the context of that thread. The key word is context. Now if the context is just to get Talkupation, then it's been cheapened to a level that it will mean nothing.
So I suggest that you save the Talkupation and give it to those that are helping others to understand something, or reply with something truly meaningful, whether it's in the webmastering forums or even the General Discussion.
That's my two cents about Talkupation. If you want more Talkupation, make thoughtful, deliberate, and helpful posts/replies/threads.

Dave-
That's why I had a specific rule for this. It ensures that people actually deserve the talkupation. If they don't give something inciteful, no **** it won't be rewarded.

King Justice: your idea has good intentions, but the problem is, as Dave said, TP is one of those things that occurs naturally when people provide insight, help, or in my case make people laugh...for some reason, that's worth Talkupation although I'm just being stupid.
I'm not blaming you, because your heart was in the right place, but Dave's right...you can't force this issue.

I agree that the original intentions were good, but I think it's the wrong way of getting Talkupation. The main reason that I think it's not good in this thread is because some will give out trivia, some will give out common tidbits of webmastering information, and some will just not pay attention to what is said, will give Talkupation, and expect the next person to give them some.
I personally won't give out Talkupation for trivia, unless that trivia was outstanding in the context of a thread. And I won't give it out for random thought, though I think I did give Adam some for his dew!
BTW, speaking of dust, did you know that on an average, a mattress that is 5 years old will be the home of 18 to 20 million dust mites? And dust mites are in the arachnid family. Got arachniphobia? Go to bed and don't think about it. Besides, dust mites don't have eyes...they just go on their feelings and carry really small canes, while you sleep with them. I got that information from my wife's business.

Asking for talkupation is kind of like asking a girl "Can we get naked now?" in the middle of your first date.

Yeah ... it tends to work out better when you don't ask for it ... even if it takes a little bit more patience.

You've got a good point. That's why, on more than one occasion, I've asked a girl that before the first date. And on more than one occasion, it has worked.
