Okay I changed the title on my website and on my forum so that it is displayed differently now I am getting tons of sign ups I don't know if that little bit helped or what I am just getting so many sign ups This is my memberlist, but I can not figure out why it is growing so rapidly.

Is there any way of figuring this out?

Well sign up are great but if they don't start posting it's beats the point

may be you are ranking high for the keyword you've changed in the title

Not all signups are "great". Some just mean work for the moderators.

Have you checked the IPs to see how many of them are identical or in the same "C" range?

At least three of those are pr0n spambots

20 & 21 will be pharmacy affiliate link droppers and possibly the same "person"

15 looks like a link drop signup as well.

yea, look at their websites, i dont think many people (who you want on your forum] would put "holding" sites and the same site to health products etc etc.

just ban them and it looks like most dont even make 1 post.

I did something new after that suggestion I got a list of spam robots and blocked them using .htaccess

ok this got me thinking.

is there a script which (somehow) connects to these security servers etc which keep lists of spam ips and then block them from entering?

i know it would have to sync with the servers when changes occur, etc, but im guess it could be done much the same to the geo scripts i have seen.

i think this would be a Really good idea, unfortuantly i have no clue on how i would set up such a script a) on my hosting so i could provide this (which i would like to if possible) b) the script to get them, save them, and block them.

anyone have some comment about that i would be interested.

Hello chrishirstI am Wondering how you found out what type of bots and such signed up or where you got a list of these user names etc? This would be useful to me

i dont think he had a list, i think he had a lil bit of common sense and looked at their URLs...

Dan is right for the ones with "home page" set

and I've been around on a lot of forums and a moderator on several, so you get an "eye" for usernames and which are not going to be genuine.
