As a web designer what would you charge a customer to redesign a site such as
http://www.iurpa.org? What do you think the average cost for a site like this is? I've heard of law firms getting charge $15,000 for a basic site. I just redesigned
http://bsschool.org for $5000 and their IT coordinator said i was cheap & should have charged more.
The potential customer IURPA has contacted me & is interested in a re-design. I plan I doing the site in Joomla.
http://www.iurpa.org
I'm really not sure what is a fair price to charge on this one. The site has a tons of content and lots of features that would need to be implemented on the new site.
Polls, forums, members area (see below), newsletter, pay dues form, renew membership form, report theft form, conference events calendar, not to mention the static content such as who they are, what they do and their bylaws.
The directory of contacts would be quite large too. If you go to
http://www.iurpa.org/sitemap.htm and scroll down to Regional Revenue Protection Groups you'll see what I mean. This doesn’t even include the actual member directory which is password protected for members and I don't have access to it yet.
Also on that same page under IURPA Supporting Vendors it seems they have mini-sites for each of their Vendors which would need to be re-created to match the redesigned site.
I don’t have access to their members section yet, but these look like some tedious time consuming creations...

What do you this is the average rate if they contacted another web design company to redesign this site and to implement the functionality it already has?
I've designed sites for myself for years but am just starting to charge for these type of services and need your help with some estimates.
I prefer to just charge them one lump sum & not hourly or per page.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
