I just got the iRiver clix2 4gb to replace my lost nano and I must say it is fantastic no wonder it received an 8.7 rating at cnet. I also got the Skull Candy proletariat noise canceling headphones after following other good reviews and I think I got just what I wanted.

What do you guys use to listen to music? Mostly ipods I assume...walkmans?

i use my cell phone.. it's upgraded to mp4.

How much space can you get for a cell phone? I'm not crazy for space (like 30 gb) all I need is four GB, but can a typical mp3 compatible phone hold 1000 songs?

I have 128Mo internal, and added a microSd card with 2Go, and packed it with apps (gps, web browser....)
Way enough for me.
I have access via an usb2 connection that charge the phone at the same time.

my cellphone has 1G memory card and 1G phone memory.. enough for me to saved upto 800 songs and some files..

I mainly listen to music in my car or when I'm on my computer.

Although I have recently brought a new phone and have started using that to listen the music when I'm on the move.

At what bitrate? It seems that 2gb should be enough to keep a little under 500 songs.

i got a green iPod - limited ed. too many nano's.. wheres the colour .. apple are getting so boring as they grow..

i'd like to see decent 720*576 mp4 capturing abilities on tefalones... ... at say 512kbps.. mp4 (128 of that being fine 4audio)

@ 128kbps = 1 meg /// @ 160kbps = 1,2meg ///@192kbps = 1,5meg
256=1.9meg, & 320=2,4meg a minute ....

(I like 192kbps so its 90 meg an hour than 60 meg.....)

4 my phone i use .3gp ... 112kbps... QTPro has fine nuff compressing tools for mp3 8kbps-320kbps AS WITH flash ... which is gr8 cause 'ye can add an anime ...
so....
I figure its 10meg a minute for 16 bit .wav/ .aiff....
. . 1 meg : minute for mp3 ( & mp4 with a vector graphic/spinner)
I have an invisible mp3 loading
well our telephones have 11000 kHz 8 bit sound... analogue

im back... soz to annoy you H'nD ... subject 'mp3' ... i threw in some compression ratios ...which are a useful reference, it may've helped a viewer somewhere ... more than comparing 800 song phones, to 1000 song phones ....
so just to talk more nonsense...
1 gig of mp3's compressed @ 8kbps = is 11 days of MUSIC ... on your phone or iPod ....

1 gig mp3's (@ 192 kbps) = just over 11 hours
1 gig mp3's (@ 128kbps) = just 16-17 hours
1 gig .wav = 1 hour 40 minutes ...raw audio
1 gig .dv = less than 5 minutes ... raw video

i used to have an ipod shuffle but due to "eldest sister duties" i have to give it to my brother. i now use my phone that can store almost 50 uncompressed mp3s
