If you are a fame seeker, share your story here.
Thanks,
Buck

Well, here I am, seeking fame at WT. Have I done it yet?
That's an interesting question. I hope that most responders don't try to plug their site because that was not what you were asking.
I do know that we've had some artists of different types/genre that have been on this forum, and of course they would want to get more fame by their internet presence.

Partly, but partly to ensure that my knowledge of web design remains sharp...if I can answer questions so that others can learn, I truly know my craft.

I'm already famous and trying desperately to get a lower profile...there has been so much Paparrazzi in Bikini Bottom lately I'm getting really uncomfortable...

I think you can easily become famous in your niche, but becoming famous through a website seems like a stretch.

"Fame is a ghostly hope." I would hate to get mobbed every time I left the house. But it would be fun to make the paparazzi chase me on back country mountain trails.

I talking about being famous. It seems really that I am the man behind the scenes on pretty much everything. Nobody really knows who I am. I think it would be cool just to go into some place and people already know who you I am. And I'm not talking about rock star famous where people don't know you but they want to be your friend because you are famous. I just want to be recognized. I don't want to be celebrated, just famous.
It would be nice to walk into some place and have someone just start talking to me about something I'm actually interested in because they found my one of my blogs or websites or read my social bookmarks or networking profiles.
Not that I have any problems approaching women. But if they already had some idea of who I am they could have already made an educated choice about whether they want to buy me a drink.
Awh, to be famous.
I could go on but I'm looking for a bit more input.

I think HighAndDry had a really good point about success and fame being two different things. Movie/rock -star famous sounds a lot like a curse to me. But what you're talking about sounds a lot more tolerable, maybe even a good thing.
My web site has a goal that isn't that different from yours. I want to be recognized, making it easier to get book deals and eventually my own room at REI.

I don't see how someone would whisper to someone else, "Hey that's the guy who owns suchandsuch.com". A bouncer at a famous night club sees you coming and says, "Hey, you're the guy who owns blahblahblah.com. Come on in." Really, a bouncer being a savy net surfer? Not that it's not possible, just unlikely.

I've been thinking about flyers lately with websites and social media IDs, a little bit about me. I'm working on the design.

And then there is getting rankings and popularity for your own website. Or better yet what if your name was the most commonly search keyword becuase you are now famous? Wouldn't that be great.

Heres an Idea to get seen on the web ...... using exotic servers like
.dj .to .no .tv
New trendy names can be registered on these, rather expensive servers. I found america.dj ... but its 100 GDP ( $ US 200 ) per-annum ..... I have registered africa.to .... SSSOOOO many groovy names available .... and I see that people are still trying to sell domains like 24hourpokerclub.net really OUT OF DATE & boring..... they've lost out! .. i bet i could score Poker.to ... etc....... (didn't chk) ...hope this inspires any fame hunters.

Oh .... and really desperate fame hunters .......... here's some off the wall advice. Go to the poorest, most run-down council projects, get them interested - The Ghetto (or trailer pk) Grapevine is really alive ... its a long 'thread' Most people operate ironically as a sub.domains...(safest way) and trends devolp fast. Be it a song, a site, a book, a play,a model ...

I think Tom is deffinately famous. MySpace is getting there.
It would be nice to have that kind of fame too. I'm sure Tom has more women than he knows what to do with.
