It has always interested me what makes fellow Webmasters keep ticking. What is your motivation? What is your purpose?

Artistic Developer
An individual that is takes interest in the artistic side of the internet and web development.
Logical Developer
An individual that thinks logically and has a very systematic mind. Usually exceptionally good at web programming in languages such as PHP, ASP, Perl, etc, but alot of these type don’t usually have good design skills.
Entrepreneur Developer
Individual that sees the internet and thinks $$$. I’ve found it common for these sort to make a cruddy website and expect the money to flow in, but alas sucumb to little or no success. However, if the time is invested to know the other areas of web development such as web trends, programming, and design, then you are on the correct road.
‘Reach-the-masses’ Developer
The type of developer that likes alot of visitors using their site and use it as motivation. Usually these type of developer slant towards community/forum based websites, and in almost all other cases have some sort of section on their site where users can input.
The All-Round Developer
This is the developer that takes interest in all areas of web development to make a good website. Established developers of this type are one-person web making machines who can design and program a site by themselves.

I always consider myself 'The All-Round Developer'. I do thing that certain areas need to be worked on, but I have a good understanding of most things webmaster wise.

I think I'm a logical developer. I don't have the skills to design good sites, but I can code them very well.

I think of myself more like a "Logical Developer".I realize it though, and I have some friends that are much better than me at design, or marketing and we often work together on projects.
Every one have it's preferences and specialty.

I guess I am artistic type. Design is the area where I always focused most. My ex partner was in charge of the coding. Now she is gone, and I'm with it all by myself. It's been good tho. I learned alot more.

I guess I am an all-round webmaster. I guess the main motivations are usefulness and accessible web contents that others can use, which I guess adds the 'Reach The Masses' to the mix.

I have been creating websites for years and seen quite a few come and go, and through my experiences I have shaped myself into a standards compliant css coder, semi-proficient photoshop designer, and php developer.

I guess I'm the "intelligent guy with something important to say that's being systematically censored by the mainstream media" kind of web developer.

I am definately the all arounder and that is not to brag at all. Its more of an anxiety problem, the need to do things on my own and perfectly. I can't just make a site and throw it up, I'm the kind of person who has to learn all the relavent information about design, programing, implementing functions, marketing and my personal love of writing.

That said, there is a definite limit to what I will do. I am definately NOT going to spend my time learning every scripting language and every SEO trick and marketing resource. I have the experience and knowledge of finding out the crucially important elements to any system, employing them and learning the rest a little at a time.

No wonder my site has taken 6-7 months and is still under major construction.

How about some combination of the above? I'm pretty good at coding, and in some ways I have a little bit of artistic talent. Page layouts isn't one of those ways, but another is the driving force behind me having a web site.

I think I'm an erratic web master. I sometimes come out with great designs, my coding work varies dependant on who'll be looking at it and I try to include a forum where it fits. All around then am I?

I'm like Forrest...there are elements of my design that fit all of those. I'd say I fit "all-around" but that seems to imply an equal balance between all parts, and I tend to lean more toward the three items in the middle.

I'm also like John...I say things that no one else dares to. Ahhhh the life of a martyr.
