Hi.. am a newbie, so don't flame me.

I'm sorting out a blog which is actually already finished with adsense in place... but the ads aren't relevant on the top page.

They are, however, fabulous on every other page. Click on one of the labels, and its the ads I'd expect to see. Yet.. the main page shows nothing but blogging ads. I don't get it.

I already tried targeting. This is on a beta blogger blog, and the codes were inserted in the HTML -- I used the start and end tags on the titles and post body but that hasn't worked. (And I dont buy the 2 week wait thing, cos every time I add a new label the ads are correct within an hour.)

Since every bit of advice I could find suggested the problem might be the sidebar, I installed the ignore content code. But that didnt help either. And really Im not sure why it would -- the content in the sidebars is exactly the same whether youre on the main page or somewhere in the archives.

Same goes for content -- the content is the same on the main page as it is in each labeled section, so I dont see how the other targeting could help either.

I just want the same ads showing on the main page that are showing everywhere else... anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!!!

Lola

When you add a new blog post, it can take about 10 or so minutes for Adsense to serve relevant ads. Sometimes Adsense does serve unrelated ads for various reasons (keywords in the posts thar Adword users are targeting, etc.). You can use your Adsense competitive ad filter to stop the ads, but don't click on them to determine the ad URL, use the googlee adsense preview tool, or right click and view properties, then copy the URL after "adurl=http://".

If there isn't any dominant content (other than lead ins to the articles) on the first page for the bot to target the ads will be based on the domain name and perceived content.

On one of my sites I placed some articles in a directory that I named art to keep it short. For the longest time the main page of that directory only displayed ads related to art which was a long way from the topic.
