I personally think pay-per-impression and PPC are bad because the webmaster can click (and tell others to click/reload the page) the ads and no one will know. I think things that pay for an amount of time based off of current traffic is the best.

If contextual is dead, then how come we keep making so much money from it? If this is dead then bring on the Reaper.

I have to agree, most sites for sale show revenue with ads from networks such as AdSense, Y!PN and other less known ones.

I'm pretty sure people in the Green Team on this forum made quite a load from ads, I know for a fact people making a few hundreds daily with Google Adsense.

Flat rate banners and text links are paying, but it's NOTHING like the PPC market...

Jerome.

yeah .. it's obviously not dead. there are many people that believe it has peaked and will be replaced by cpa just in the same way that cpc has replaced cpm.

personally i think there's some kind of freudian thing doing on with changing acronyms every year or so

It isn't dead, but those without deep pockets just have to be careful. Click fraud is what is attempting to kill contentual advertising so those without $2000 to spend per month, simply stay out of the top 5 for the major keyword phrases and that lessens the chance that you'll receive fraudulent click throughs.

CPC will never die... Not everybody who wants people to visit their sites can or wants to make some CPA tracking system. Furthermore it provides lucrative revenues if you know how to use it in order to advertise CPA campaigns.

I personally don't think it's dead. From a webmaster with thousands of unique visitors each day's view contextual ads, when well done, can bring hundreds and thousands per day. I've seen people bring in 700 USD daily through these just a few weeks ago, so probably they aren't too dead.

Far from dead. Those who commit click fraud are generally caught rather quickly. If you are a webmaster and spend your time focusing on asking visitors to click ads and reload pages, you probably wont be in this business very long.
