I have been using adsense at my site National Hockey League Digest (nhldigest.com) and with about 800-1000 pageviews/day I am not even earning more than $2.00.

Is it because your clicks are low, or are your clicks high but they're just not paying very much?

If the latter then it's probably just because you have lowpaying keywords, if the former then it's probably a problem with your ad placement

I would try putting some ads into the content section of the pages. For example on a post page, put an add after the post, before the comment section. This will get the ads seen by the user. Also on the main page, you can put some ads between the articles.

The CTR is less than 1% and the keywords are fairly low paying. I am not expecting a gold mine, but I would like to get to about $10.00/day.

You may also want to try out placing link unit on top of your pages. It may attract additional clicks as well
