In January I've earned a total of $13.78.
February earnings are slightly higher at $15.80.
All through Adsense.
Any ideas how I can increased these further? My website is a forum using Vbulletin software. I have 550 members to date.
Are the alternatives any better?

Adsense is the best! Work on your traffic and ad placements if you want to earn more.

Sorry to say that there are no better alternatives atm.. wif you have a average / high CTR, concentrate on your traffic

I find I have been earning more through adbrite than adsense recently... even no. of clicks but adbrite has payed more per click for me.

Adbrite is a good alternative. You can also try Chikita. There's a new network out now as well that tries to take advantage of the eBay affiliate system: http://www.auctionsads.com . That looks promising.

Thats one that I want to look in to. I've heard some good things about them. Maybe I'll try them out.
