Heres a n00b question for you all, I've been reading some things about adsense beautifer (I can't post links as i havn't posted enough yet)

The resulting ads look good, but i'm wondering if it complies with googles tos or not.

Any ideas?

Cheers

It's complicated. Google's TOS does specify that you shouldn't mess with the code whatsoever. Also, the image next to ads issue has been one that google has most specifically said "don't do it".

However, I've seen even larger websites doing it.

It appears to be against TOS so I wouldn't recommend doing it even if larger sites are doing it.

i do believe that you are allowed to place images next to google ads as long as they dont appear to be part of the ads (have there own border and say... 20 px away?)... atlest thats what i was told.

That was a few months ago, now it's strictly prohibited.

I wouldn't do it. Google is definitely cracking down on images anywhere near the ads. They gave me two days to take them off 1000s of pages or they were going to shut me down.

I wouldn't risk it.

This is not to say you couldn't use images next to Google's Link units. Works well with the horizontal link units. I have done this on a couple of my websites with very good results. Since you don't get paid unless the visitor clicks twice, there is no issue with the TOS.

If you earn a nice amount form adsense, it isn't worth risking it all for a few extra % in your CTR.

Try to improve the positioning and maybe your content.

Also focus on how to get more visitors and then things will even out.

Cheers.
