I was wondering if my earnings would go down if I placed 3 units on my website on every single page that is being shown? I have been reading in several places that I won't get as much per click the more units I place on my site. Is this true?

The only way to find out is to try it.. it cant hurt and you can use the results to further optimize your placement.

I would agree for you to try it. If you are showing quite a few CPM ads, then using more may benefit you, but then your CPM advertisers may see a lower CTR from your site and lower their CPM cost or even totally move away from your website.

Also, earning per click depends on how you optimize the ads for your website. For example if you look at your site through your browser and have the top ad positioned the lowest in your source code then that is likely to get the lower paying clicks rather than the highest positioned ad in your source code.

What is your url? maybe we can look at the location and see if you are going to get better click rate?

well with just 2 blocks it could increase your eCPM but you probably will get less clicks

If you have a lot of advertisers targeting your site you could also be showing just 2 cpm ads per page at a time when if you had 3 units that could make you be showing 3 cpm ads which may earn you more overall. Some people think it's best to use 2 and some use 3. It's up to you, but don't overdo your site with ads like some do.

Placement is key. I had a site getting 2-3% ctr, with 3 ad blocks and two were huge and right in dead center of page. I redesigned the site with one small ad block and it now gets 10-15% because of the placement.

On one of my sites I had 2 adsense units and when I took one off the 1 adsense unit that I had left seemed to pay more per click because it was displaying higher paying ads im guessing. But test it out yourself.

as with anything you should test it. Worst case you go back to two ad blocks. The BIGGEST KEY is to remember that the first adsense block of code in your HTML gets the highest dollar click ads shown. So if you want your ad that gets that most clicks due to placement to be the first one to appear in yoru code.

To quote a marketing guru from Australia:-

"Brad, how do you become a marketing guru?"

Brad Sugars: "I put 10 different ads in the paper, find the one that works and keep running it."

All advertising is test and measure, there are no hard and fast rules
