OK, so what am I doing wrong?

My site Find - Submit Article is getting over 200 visitors a day and yet only getting 2 or 3 clicks per month.

OK, its an article site and I wasn't expecting that much in the way of ctr, but c'mon.

I was thinking of knocking the block adsense at the top of the articles down to a left oriented smaller block or column.

Anyone with some ideas would be great.

Maybe make them stand out more? Change the blocks to a colour that stands out rather then blends in. More noticeable, I know I just glazed right over them.
Or add a border round it or something?

Are you getting quality traffic?
What kind of traffic are you getting? How many referrals, organic?

Why is the big adsense block not on these pages:
Find - Submit Article

I would also wonder about the traffic quality, 2-3 clicks a month with 200 solid visitors just doesn't happen.

Targetted traffic is the key. You get this thru PPC, targetted linkbacks, forum posting, etc. Getting targetted traffic is just the first step, it all boils down what relevance you offer to your traffic.

What keywords are your site optimized for? This could also play a vital role in conversion.

Thanks guys for your input.

A closer look at my traffic stats reveals that very few real people are visiting, and then its most likely to submit an article. I can only guess that the rest of the traffic is automated article submitting programs going right to the submit page.

Thanks Lee for pointing out where adsense was missing. I'll fix that this week.

Article sites are sometimes tough top optimize for contextual ad CTR. I won't disclose what ezine articles dot com's CTR is, but let's just say you're gonna need volume.

on your type of page, I would move the paragraph below the adsense block above the block and set the background of your add to the same color as your page(light pink). Also, I would add a vertical link unit right below your main menu. I noticed also that the adds google is giving you is about business plan,..but your users got to your site looking for articles,...so its not interesting to them, its not what they want. try optimizing your page with a good intro about article on top of your page.

You are probably correct in saying people are going just to submit articles. Over time though some of the articles depending on quality, keywords, competitiveness of keywords, and how unique the article is, will start getting some search traffic so make sure you have good SEO on the article pages and ads as well as the majority of your traffic will come in on sub pages.
