I wanted to post this so as to get some thoughts from people here...with my main question being how good really is Adsense?

I came across this site which as you'll see use Google Adsense http://www.videotutorialzone.com

Now then on this page http://www.videotutorialzone.com/ple...this-site.html in the third paragragh down entitled "How we make money doing this" they claim that in the last 20 days they've had 5250 unique visitors of which only 10 have clicked on their Google ads making them a grand total of $4, (by the way a week previously when I looked at this site those figures were exactly the same then!.......ie. have they had no unique visitors in the mean time then?)

Now this is all in sharp contrast to these claims by people (who happen to be selling ebooks on using Google Adsense) that they make $2000 a week etc.
I just want to get people's thoughts on this but in my reckoning the first example they're selling a hard luck story so you donate to their site, in the second they're selling an idea so you end up buying their book.

As for my original question how good really is Adsense? would the answer be .....somewhere in between these two extremes?

You're probably right about both types of sites. Success with AdSense varies. Most people make very little with it, but some do make good money and a very few have made enough to never work again.

How much you make can depend on quite a few things. With a little searching here or online in general you can see all kinds of advice for where to place ads, whether you should blend them in with your content or make them stand out. These kind of things you should really test since you may see different results than someone else.

Set up some channels at AdSense so you can track which ads perform better and worse and adjust bases on what you find.

Naturally the more traffic you get to your site and the more pageviews the more opportunity you have for someone to click. So one goal in making money with AdSense is generating traffic.

The topic of your site also impacts how much you can make. Different markets lead to different bids so some topics naturally have higher payouts per click. Also web savvy people can tell an ad is an add and tend not to click as much. Topics build around topics that attract less web savvy people generally get more clicks.

Keep in mind everything I just said generalizations. Ultimately you have to test and measure and see what works best for you. Odds are you won't get rich, but if you work at it and try different sites with different topics you can make some money.

yes. it's going on very high order.... In India there is rate of 1200 RS.. they are selling CD to explain how to setup google adsense........... they shows copy of many cheqes............ those are more than 1000$.............. and new bie start thinking that in a few days he/she also start to make this amount............ it's very bad thing going on.............. due to this useless websites are coming daily that are just for adsense..............

adsense is really good it gives great pay out specially if you have a lot of quality traffic coming from search engines.
