So, I got a click today and it was only worth 1 cent.... is this normal? I didn't know adsense would put up such low-paying ads.

Is there anything I should know or are the ads possibly targeted poorly? I'm an adsense noob so any help is appreciated.

I get those every now and then. Pretty disgusting when it happens and then a few day later I may get a $2 click on the same site.

It all comes down to averages. Even 5 at a penny and one at $2 works out to a decent return.

Is there anything you can do? Am I possibly targeting complete trash and not even knowing it?

It is all about supply and demand. A simple way to determine whether or not your niche is in demand is to do a Google search related to your niche. Then note how many pages of unique ads there are. If there is only a page or two of ads, then there is not a big demand for this ad space. If there are 6+ pages of unique ads, then the demand is big.

It's very normal in Adsense. There is 80% of Google commision included, so from 5 cents minimum to advertiser Google pays publisher out 1 cent.

expect more of that in adsense. It's very unreliable imo.

Wow, for me that's sucks, Sorry.
because my first click is $0.30. Try to make a high ad niche such as health and finance. these niche is very good, high earn. Specially if you out the ads when your site table in the first page.

My Advice :
- Try to create Health, finance, or Technology niche. Use long tail keyword, if you don't know what is Long Tail Keyword just search on Google.
- Do not put your ads for a while. Once your site have a good position on Google you can Buzz the Ads and you'll see the difference.
- Focus on how to be the first on Google, do not think how much you can earn first. Throw that awful thing away. I'll tell you, you no need think about the earnings anymore when your site have 1st on Google because money will come to you even when you sleep.

It also depends on the bid that Adwords allow their users to put some time the one that uses coupon may worth more like $2.00 or above. I have heard people has gotten a single click and worth for $8.37. I have also heard that Advertisers that uses the coupon during the coupon days one click was more than the bid. See I think that's explain everything.

1 cent is not that common. You might get it on the very rare occassion but if you're finding that you're getting it a lot then it's probably your niche.

You might need to do some keyword research, so you can get some better paying words in your titles and content. This helps you get higher paying ads from Google.

Good luck and hopefully you'll get less 1 cent clicks in the future.

Actually I was thinking the same thing. There is such a thing as "high-paying" keywords - meaning keywords that will bring higher-paying ads and therefore higher-paying clicks.

But even then it's not as simple as that either. I'm thinking about a client of mine who has an astrology page and that kind of subject matter usually doesn't get high-paying clicks but there have been rare occassions when a click has brought $4 or more per click. If I knew what kind of keywords got that kind of pay per click amount I would use it more often - but it's really impossible to tell.

So a subject that brings in low earnings can sometimes occassionally bring in high earnings as well.
